The 16th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists
will be held in Weimar from April 11th to 16th, 2023.
Age groups
I: up to 13 years (born after April 11, 2009)
II: 14 – 16 years (born April 12, 2006 to April 11, 2009)
III: 17 – 20 years (born April 12, 2002 to April 11, 2006)
(Age as of April 11, 2023)
Prices
A 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize is offered in each age group. In addition, a special prize can be awarded for the best interpretation of a classical work as well as the contemporary compulsory pieces and other special and non-cash prizes. The total amount of prizes is approximately €20,000. The jury reserves the right to award the prizes.

Free program from at least three different eras, including a classical one* and a contemporary piece (total duration 12 – 15 min)

*– Original work by a composer from the first half of the 19th century who was born before 1800, such as Aguado, Carcassi, Carulli, Giuliani, Paganini (no violin caprices), Sor
Conditions of competition
- The program submitted with registration is binding; changes are only possible up to the registration deadline.
- The participant is responsible for compliance with the invitation to tender. If you are unsure about the competition program, the organizer can be contacted. Failure to select a program as advertised will result in disqualification.
- The order of the works can be determined by yourself.
- The entire competition program must be recited from memory.
- The order of appearance is determined by drawing lots.
- The artistic and musical design, stylistics, text fidelity and security are assessed. The focus is on interpretation. Scores will not be announced.
- The jury's decisions are final and legal recourse is excluded.
- The award winners are obliged to be personally present at the award ceremony and, if necessary, to perform at the award winners' concert. The program is determined by the jury.
- The auditions and the award winners' concert will be recorded on video. A live stream transmission is planned. In addition, the videos will be published on the guitar club's YouTube channel at least until April 30, 2023 (longer publication can be objected to at any time). The participant cannot assert any claims from this.
The participants agree to the non-commercial use of parts of the recordings by the organizer, Guitar Association Weimar e.V., e.g. for image films, documentaries or advertising for the competition - A valid identity document must be presented upon arrival.
- The costs incurred for participation in the competition must be borne by the participant themselves.
- The organizer is not liable for any personal injury or property damage that occurs in connection with the competition.
- In the event of any discrepancies, only the German version of this advertisement is binding.
- By registering, participants accept the above competition conditions.
enrollment
The enrollment for the 16th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists will take place online from January 7, 2023 at www.gitarreverein-weimar.de with a simultaneous transfer of a registration fee of €50
up to and including March 3, 2023.
When registering, a photo of the candidate in which the face can be clearly seen must be submitted.
The number of participants is limited. Admission takes place in the order in which registrations are received.
Incomplete or late registrations cannot be considered.
The registration fee will not be refunded in the event of cancellation by the participant.
