15th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists
The 15th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists Weimar will take place from April 6th to 11th, 2021
held as an online competition.
Age groups
I: up to 13 years (born after April 6, 2007)
II: 14 – 16 years (born April 7, 2004 to April 6, 2007)
III: 17 – 20 years (born April 7, 2000 to April 6, 2004)

Prices
In every age group are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes are announced. You can also get a special price for each the best interpretation of a classic work as well as contemporary ones Compulsory pieces and other special and non-cash prizes will be awarded. The The total amount of prizes is approximately €15,000. The jury reserves the right to award the prizes.

Rating program
Age group I:
Free program from at least three different eras, including a classical* and a contemporary piece (total duration 12 – 15 minutes)
Age group II:
(Total duration: 17 – 20 min)
a) 1-2 sentences from: 6 Genera Studies by Elia Koussa
b) an original work of classical music*
c) free program
Age group III:
1st round:
(Total duration: 12 – 15 min)
a) one of the following etudes by Mauro Giuliani from op. 48:
No. 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 or 24
b) 1-2 sentences from: 6 Genera Studies by Elia Koussa
c) free program
Final:
(Total duration: 17 – 20 min)
a) an original work of classical music*
b) free program
*– Original work by a composer from the first half of the 19th century,
who was born before 1800, such as Aguado, Carcassi, Carulli, Giuliani,
Paganini (no violin caprices), Sor
Competition conditions and process
- All participants record their competition program on video.
- The entire recording should be recorded with one camera angle, the player must be fully visible, external microphones are permitted.
- Cuts within a piece/set and subsequent editing are not permitted and will result in disqualification.
- Texts or subtitles may not be displayed.
- The program submitted when registering is binding; changes are only possible up until the registration deadline
- The participant is responsible for compliance with the invitation to tender. If you are unsure about the competition program, the organizer can be contacted. Failure to select a program as advertised will result in disqualification.
- The order of the works can be determined by yourself.
- The program must be recited from memory.
- The recordings must be submitted via wetransfer.com by Friday, April 2nd (AG III: only 1st round!)
- The following formats are permitted: .mp4 or .mov (max. HD).
- The video file must be named with the participant's last name and first name (“last name-first name.mp4” or “last name-first name.mov”)
- The videos may not be recorded until Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the earliest. All participants will receive a PDF file on March 26, 2021. The document must be printed out and visible in the background during the entire recording.
- The submitted videos will be played publicly on YouTube. The exact schedule will be published after registration closes.
- The participants agree to the public communication and cannot make any financial claims for this. The videos remain visible until the results are announced. Parts of the award winners' videos selected by the jury remain permanently visible on the guitar club's YouTube channel.
- The order in which the videos are played will be randomly selected.
- The jurors watch the videos at the same time on the YouTube channel of the Weimar Guitar Association and the Anna Amalia Competition.
- The artistic and musical design, stylistics, text fidelity and security are assessed. The focus is on interpretation. Scores will not be announced.
- The results of the 1st round of AG III will be announced by publication on the website of the Guitar Association Weimar e.V. on Wednesday, April 7th at the latest (the exact time will be determined after the registration deadline). The participants of AG III who have qualified for the final will also be informed directly by email.
- The finalists will then submit a video with the final program by Friday April 9th, which must be recorded on April 8th or 9th. For this purpose, the finalists will receive a PDF document, which must be printed out and shown in the recording.
- The results of AG I and II as well as the final of AG III will be announced in an online awards ceremony on Sunday, April 11, 2021, in the live stream and by publication on the guitar club's website.
- The jury's decisions are final and legal recourse is excluded.
- The costs incurred for participation in the competition must be borne by the participant themselves.
- In the event of any discrepancies, only the German version of this advertisement is binding.

Registration for the 15th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists takes place online from January 25th to March 12th, 2021 at www.gitarreverein-weimar.de
with a simultaneous transfer of a registration fee of €50 to the account of the Weimar Guitar Association.
When registering, you must submit a copy of a valid identity document and a photo in which your face can be clearly seen.
The number of participants is limited. Admission takes place in the order in which registrations are received.
Incomplete or late registrations cannot be considered.
The registration fee will not be refunded in the event of cancellation by the participant.
