12th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists
7th-12th April 2015 in Weimar

 

The 12th Anna Amalia Competition for young guitarists
will be held in Weimar from April 7th to 12th, 2015.

 

Age groups

I: up to 13 years
II: 14 – 16 years
III: 17 – 20 years
(Age on April 7, 2015)

 

Prices

A 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize is offered in each age group.
In addition, a special prize can be awarded for the best interpretation of a classical work as well as the contemporary compulsory pieces and other special prizes.
The total amount of prizes is approximately €15,000.
The jury reserves the right to award the prizes.

Age group I:
Free program from at least three different eras, including a classical** and a contemporary piece (total duration 12 – 15 min)

Age group II:
(Total duration: 17 – 20 min)
a) at least 1 sentence from one of the following booklets:
– Ilias Rachianotis: Guitar piece for young people (ECH0996)*
– Franz Just:  feats (ECH0983)*
– Thomas Nathan Krueger: Stumbled, fell (ECH0984)*
– Wolfgang Wollschläger: Incidentia (ECH0985)*
b) an original work of classical music**
c) free program

Age group III:
1st round:
(Total duration: 12 – 15 min)
a) 2 sentences from Fernando Sor: “Six Aires” op. 19
b) at least 1 sentence from one of the following booklets:
– Franz Just:  feats (ECH0983)*
– Thomas Nathan Krueger: Stumbled, fell (ECH0984)*
– Wolfgang Wollschläger: Incidentia (ECH0985)*
c) free program

Final:
(Total duration: 17 – 20 min)
a) an original work of classical music**

Please note: unfortunately Ilias Rachianotis: Guitar piece for young people not yet published,

We have therefore removed it from this year’s list of must-watches.
**– Work by a composer from the first half of the 19th century who was born before 1800, such as Aguado, Carcassi, Carulli, Giuliani, Paganini, Sor

 

Conditions of competition

– The judging auditions are public.
– The order in which the participants appear will be drawn.
– The program submitted with registration is binding; changes are only possible until the registration deadline (February 20, 2014).
– The order of the works can be determined by yourself.
– The program must be recited from memory.
– The grades must be kept available for inspection by the jury.
– The artistic and musical design, stylistics, text fidelity and safety are assessed. The focus is on interpretation. Scores will not be announced.
– The jury’s decisions are final and legal recourse is excluded.
– The award winners are obliged to be personally present at the award ceremony and to perform at the award winners’ concert.
The program is determined by the jury.
– The organizer reserves the right to record and publish the auditions and the prizewinners’ concert. The participant cannot assert any claims from this.
– A valid identity document must be presented upon arrival.
– The costs incurred for participation in the competition must be borne by the participant themselves.
– The organizer is not liable for any personal injury or property damage that occurs in connection with the competition.
– In the event of any discrepancies, only the German version of this advertisement is binding.

Registration for the 12th Anna Amalia Competition for young guitarists takes place on-line (from January 2015)
at www.gitarreverein-weimar.de with simultaneous transfer of a registration fee of €50 by February 20, 2015.
The number of participants is limited. Admission takes place in the order in which registrations are received.
Incomplete or late registrations cannot be considered.
In justified exceptional cases, the registration fee can be paid upon arrival.
The registration fee will not be refunded in the event of cancellation by the participant.
